Axis Health was established over 30 years ago to support the hospital, scientific and veterinary sectors through the supply of high-quality capital equipment and medical consumables. There is a house of brands that are exclusive to the Axis Health business which relate to products from its own GM Medical manufacturing facility or where sole local distribution rights are held for Australia and New Zealand. Axis Health is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia selling directly and through an international distribution network. In 2020 Axis Health increased its New Zealand presence by offering a wider range of products and operating directly as a trading division of Biomedical Services New Zealand Limited.

Biomedical Services New Zealand Limited provides nationwide medical device management solutions to DHB’s, private hospitals and other medical facilities and clinics with a reputation gained from 25 years of successful operations. Biomedical Services New Zealand became a wholly owned subsidiary of Cabrini Health in 2018 a not-for-profit operator of hospitals, aged care, palliative care as well as a highly regarded research institute. Cabrini Health Limited also owns Cabrini Technology Group which operates Axis Health and other related businesses such as Chemtronics Biomedical Engineering, AWA Technology Services and Chemtronics Direct. Collectively the technology businesses owned by Cabrini Health employ over 500 staff and operate from 22 locations across New Zealand and Australia with staff also implanted into many client hospital facilities.

It made perfect sense to launch Axis Health directly in New Zealand due to the strong presence and technical product support provided by the Biomedical Services New Zealand team of over 30. With well-established New Zealand infrastructure in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington that includes administration, technical workshops and warehouses, many Axis Health products are now kept in stock to enable immediate dispatch. The sales and customer service team will continue to grow as will the expertise required for some of the more complex and technologically advanced products that have not historically been available in New Zealand through distributors.

Our national New Zealand team of more than 30 staff and 20 technicians has a combination of over 100 years' experience in medical technology. The team has been supporting many of New Zealand's public and private health providers for over 25 years. Current clients are located throughout the country from Whangarei to Invercargill.

All technical staff have appropriate qualifications and maintain New Zealand electrical registrations. Staff receive regular training and attend appropriate courses and conferences.

We maintain a close association with relevant contacts within the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment and the Ministry of Health.
